i enjoy an agere systems HDA modem and it sayssoftmodem version 2.1.74. i be wonderin who had init strings for it since i with the sole purpose get aconnection at1.2k!! i needthe other 54.8k you know?!

Sorry to utter I looked on the web. The Agere site is out of commission, and I found a forum about others have problems and not being competent to find any support. You can try drivers.com to see if they have anything willing.
INIT STRING sounds strikingly like C/C++ program style...
Check for an updated driver for it online.
