No play backbone device?
I am assuming you own lost the sound on your computer.
Go to start\control panel\system\hardware\device bureaucrat.
Is your sound card\chip showing beside a yellow ! or a red x?
The other possibility I can suggest of, is that you are trying to play a dvd on your computer.
