My PC uses a 512MB PC2-4200 push. If I go and get a PC2-5300 knock against, will it work next to my PC?

YES and isn't it wonderful that BIOS does everything for you automatically. If your motherboard supports PC2-5300, the fresh RAM will work at that speed. Otherwise, BIOS will just clock it down to the subsequent supported speed.
Yes. It will clock down to bus speed.
it depends on your motherboard if it can support PC2-5300. consult you mother board manual for more information more or less its supported RAM.
if you want to find out what ram is compatible move about to this website
it will see what ram is compatible near your system
www.crucial.com
Go here and see if your motherboard can handle 5300 run into
http://www.crucial.com
Click on scan my system and if it shows 5300 as an upgrade option next your board will run it but it will run at 4200 because ram merely runs at the speed of the slowest ram contained by the system.
