My computer have a dvd player but it will not play it dvds?

your video card, graphics card may not enjoy enough memory to play a dvd, by the sounds of it, also, dvdplay.exe error sounds similar to a software issue so, maybe you hold the worst of two worlds going on right now!
Here's something you might want to check.

Go to Control Panel, System, Device Manager, Hardware.

Then Click on the plus sign subsequent to the IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers. (The DVD is an ATAPI device.)

Right click on Primary IDE Channel and click on Properties, and then Advanced Settings.

The verbs mode should be set to DMA if available. That's exactly what it will look like and enunciate. The 'if available' will be right next to the DMA. Do like peas in a pod for the Secondary IDE Channel.

If you do reset it to any of the above you'll have to reboot.
