One possibility is that the laser in for a moment dirty, this happens closely. if you are good beside taking apart electronics you can take the drive apart and calmly clean the laser next to a q-tip and some rubbing alcohol. if that doesn't work the drive is probably just getting mature and needs to be replaced. I would not recommend blowing can air into the drive you will in recent times blow the dust around and make it worse, and you might also incapacitate the laser.
if i understand you correctly, your e drive is a dvd/cd writer and it is lone reading music cds. this could be something as simple as a dirty laser lens (which could be fixed by blowing canned nouns into the open disk tray or by using a cd/dvd cleaning disk which have a bunch of fine tufts of hair on the underside) or it could be that the laser's intensity have been compromised due to flawed electronic components or it could just require an adjustment. since dvd/cd writers enjoy dropped in price fairly a bit, it'd probably be cheaper for you to just purchase a replacement unless your element is under warranty. if the component is old, it may lately be time to replace it.
